What's more, I think the discussions about which version is better is entirely beside the point: without the original artist, there would not have been any cover version in a genre you happen to? like better. Also, there is no point bashing the covering artist either in this case: they bring an ode to their favourite artists and help them promote their music by letting a new generation hear how cool it was/is.
